Overview
BraapTrax ("we," "our," or "us") is a GPS ride tracking app for iPhone built for dirt bikers. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using BraapTrax, you agree to the practices described here.
Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information when you use BraapTrax:
- Account information — your name, email address, and username, collected when you create an account
- Location data — GPS coordinates recorded during active ride sessions to provide route tracking, distance, speed, and elevation data
- Ride history and statistics — ride routes, duration, distance, speed, elevation, and other metrics associated with your rides
- Device identifiers — device model, operating system version, and unique device identifiers used for app functionality and diagnostics
- Bike and maintenance data — information about your bikes and service records that you enter into the app
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide GPS ride tracking, route recording, and post-ride statistics
- Manage your account, bikes, and maintenance records
- Enable social features such as crew tagging, activity feeds, and leaderboards
- Improve app performance, fix bugs, and develop new features
- Send you important updates about the app or your account
Data Storage and Security
BraapTrax uses Firebase (provided by Google) for user authentication and cloud data storage. Your data is stored on secure servers and transmitted using industry-standard encryption (TLS/SSL).
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, but no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.
Location Data
BraapTrax only collects GPS location data while you have an active ride session recording. We do not track your location in the background when you are not actively recording a ride. You can control location permissions through your iPhone's Settings at any time.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We may share data in the following limited circumstances:
- Social features — ride activity and profile information you choose to share with other BraapTrax users through crew and social features
- Service providers — with Firebase (Google) for authentication and data storage, strictly to operate the app
- Legal requirements — if required by law, regulation, or legal process
Trail Curation and Verified Trails
BraapTrax maintains a database of administrator-verified trails to help riders discover quality routes. To curate this database, BraapTrax administrators may review rides you have marked as "Public" or "Friends Only." Rides you have marked as "Private" remain accessible only to you and are never reviewed by administrators.
When an administrator creates a Verified Trail using your ride as a source, the trail's route data — GPS track, distance, elevation, and ride type — may be derived from that ride. Your original ride record remains yours: it is not modified, deleted, or made more publicly visible by this process. The resulting Verified Trail is a separate record curated and maintained by BraapTrax, and the originating ride is credited as its source.
Your Choices
You have control over your data:
- Location permissions — you can enable or disable location access in your iPhone's Settings at any time
- Account deletion — you can request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us
- Data export — you can export your ride data in GPX format from within the app
Children's Privacy
BraapTrax is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app or by other means. Your continued use of BraapTrax after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
