Stark's 500 Limited-Edition Electric Supermoto Sold Out in Under 48 Hours

All 500 VARG SM Sköll bikes were claimed in two days, days after Stark quietly set an outright lap record at Sitges-Terramar with one.

Stark Future just ran the kind of launch most dirt bike brands only dream about. The VARG SM Sköll, a blacked-out, numbered, road-legal electric supermoto limited to 500 units, went on sale worldwide on September 16 and was fully allocated by September 18 (Motorcycle.com). There is no second production run.

The numbers behind the sell-out

Orders opened at 11:00 CET on Wednesday, September 16. By Friday, September 18, every unit was spoken for. According to Stark's press release, it's the second capped edition to sell out this year, after the Factory Editions (200 VARG MX and 300 VARG EX). Stark's CMO Morgan Karlsson summed it up: "Five hundred bikes, fully claimed within two days."

The Sköll wears an all-black finish. Stark says every eligible component is powder coated, anodized or given a deep-black treatment, with nothing simply painted.

The lap record nobody knew about

Here's the twist. Six days before orders opened, on September 10, a Sköll set the outright lap record at the Autòdrom de Sitges-Terramar. It beat a mark held by Carlos Sainz in a Red Bull Audi R8 GT3 car that had stood for fourteen years. Stark kept the record confidential until a film about it premiered on September 20, so buyers committed their money before the headline existed (Motorcycle.com).

Worth keeping perspective: that record claim comes from Stark's own release, and Sitges-Terramar is a banked oval, not a motocross track. Nobody is saying an electric supermoto is faster than a GT3 car everywhere. But it's a loud way to say electric torque is not a toy.

What it means if you couldn't get one

Stark says dealers will get secured allocations and a path to sell the standard VARG SM, which shares the same platform and powertrain. The standard bike is still open to order. Stark hasn't published a price, power or range for the Sköll in this announcement, so we won't guess at them.

Why a dirt rider should care

Electric off-road keeps getting dismissed as a gimmick, and then a brand sells 500 bikes in two days. Limited editions are as much marketing as machinery, and a sell-out says as much about scarcity as demand. Still, Stark is also the brand that's been showing up on gate lines this year, and the pattern is hard to ignore: instant torque, no clutch work, no jetting, no altitude penalty. Whether you want one in your garage or not, the people who do are paying real money.

Where electric fits in your riding

If you're curious about electric, the practical questions are range, charge time and where you're allowed to ride something silent. Keep an eye on your own numbers: log your rides in BraapTrax to see how far and how long you actually go on a typical day, and drop a hazard report when you find something nasty so the next rider isn't surprised. Know your real riding before you shop for any bike, gas or electric.
