Never Miss an Oil Change: Set Up Service Intervals and Maintenance Reminders in BraapTrax

Stop guessing when you last changed the oil. Here's how to set service intervals in the BraapTrax garage and let the app remind you before something's overdue.

Never Miss an Oil Change: Set Up Service Intervals and Maintenance Reminders in BraapTrax

You're loading the truck on a Saturday morning and a little voice asks: when did I last change the oil in this thing? You think it was before the spring ride. Or maybe after. A dirt bike works its engine harder than almost anything with a plate on it, and "pretty sure it was recently" is how top ends and transmissions get expensive.

The fix isn't a better memory. It's writing it down once and letting something nag you at the right time. Here's how to do that in BraapTrax.

What you need

Maintenance tracking lives in the Garage, and the Garage is a Pro feature. Free users can see the tab, but tapping into it opens the upgrade screen. The app never forces you to subscribe; it just shows you what Pro does. If you're on Pro, everything below works as written.

Your ride recording, post-ride summary, season stats, GPX export, and hazard reports all stay free.

Step 1: Put your bike in the garage

Open the Garage tab and add the bike you actually ride. If you own more than one, add them all. Each bike keeps its own maintenance history, so the 450 and the trail bike don't share a service log.

Step 2: Set service intervals

For each bike, set the service intervals you want to track: oil, air filter, chain, whatever your owner's manual and your riding style call for. Hard racers and weekend trail riders don't service on the same schedule, and neither of you should trust a number from a forum post over your own manual.

Once an interval is set, BraapTrax can send you maintenance reminders, so the answer to "when's it due?" is in your pocket instead of in your head.

Step 3: Log the work when you do it

Changed the oil? Log it, so you have a real history to look back on. When you sell the bike, that record is worth something to a buyer. When something goes wrong, it tells you what you did and when.

Step 4: Pick the right bike when you ride

On the Ride tab, the Vehicle pill lets you choose which bike a ride logs to. This is also a Pro feature, and it's the piece that keeps your maintenance honest: your rides log to the right machine instead of all landing on one.

Why interval tracking beats a gut feeling

Two reasons. First, riding is lumpy: three big days in a row, then a month in the garage. Calendar reminders alone don't capture that, which is why tying service to the bike it was ridden on matters. Second, the cheapest maintenance is the one you do on time. An oil change is a few bucks and an hour. Ignoring it isn't.

Gear worth having

A little gear makes it easier to keep up with the schedule:

Is it worth Pro?

If you ride one bike a few times a year, you may be fine with free and a notebook. If you ride regularly, own more than one bike, or have ever been surprised by an overdue service, the Garage is the feature that earns its keep. Pro is $4.99/month or $39.99/year, and new subscribers get a 1-month free trial through the App Store introductory offer. Subscriptions are managed and cancelled through the App Store or Google Play.

Get BraapTrax on the App Store or on Google Play, set up your garage once, and let the reminders do the remembering. Then go ride.
