Ducati's Desmo450 MX Hits US Dealers Late October With a US-Specific Suspension Setup
The 2027 Desmo450 MX arrives at select US dealers in late October at $11,495 with revised fork, shock and clamps, while the Factory version stays home.
Ducati's desmodromic-valve motocross bike is about to be something you can actually go look at. The 2027 Desmo450 MX arrives at select North American dealers in late October, and the price didn't move: $11,495 in the US, per Dirt Bike Magazine and Motocross Action.
What's new for 2027
It's a refinement year, not a reinvention. The engine is the same 449.6cc single, and Ducati quotes 63.5 hp at 9,400 rpm. The changes are the sort of thing you notice after a few weekends:
- Gearing. A 51-tooth rear sprocket.
- Easier fueling. A larger 40 mm fuel filler opening.
- Tires. New Pirelli Scorpion MX32 Mid-Soft rubber, 80/100-21 front and 110/90-19 rear.
- Controls. Redesigned shifter and rear brake pedal tips.
- Durability. Reinforcements to the starter gear, water pump seal, exhaust connection, chain guide support, fork guards and engine mounting brackets.
- Optional Wi-Fi module. An accessory that uses your riding data to adjust service intervals to how the bike is actually used.
The electronics package carries over: traction control, launch control, quickshifter and engine braking.
The part that matters for American riders
According to Ducati North America, as relayed by both outlets above, the US-market bike gets its own suspension tune built from US testing and rider feedback:
- Revised fork valving and oil level, plus a new low-speed valve.
- Front triple clamp offset grows from 20 mm to 22 mm.
- Rear shock spring rate rises from 46 N/mm to 50 N/mm, with revised valving.
Ducati says the goal is more support on jumps and landings, which tracks with how big the average American motocross rider and track are. We haven't ridden it, so whether it works is a question for the first real tests.
The Factory model stays overseas
The 2027 Desmo450 MX Factory, with its Akrapovic titanium exhaust, upgraded suspension treatments, billet clamps and holeshot device, will not be sold in North America. The limited-edition 2026 Factory model remains the North American option, per Motocross Action. Check Ducati's US page for what's still on dealer floors.
The rider take
An $11,495 sticker keeps it in the same conversation as the Japanese and European 450s, and a few years in, Ducati is still sanding the edges rather than chasing headlines. That's a good sign for anyone nervous about being an early adopter. The catch is dealer reach: "select dealerships" means you may have to drive to see one, so call first.
Gear worth having
Any new bike earns a maintenance habit from day one:
- Dusty's Dirt Bike Maintenance Log for hours, oil changes and service intervals, whether or not you buy the Wi-Fi module.
- Maxima Air Filter Cleaner + Filter Oil Combo Kit because a clean filter is the cheapest engine insurance there is.
- Tusk Spoke Torque Wrench Kit so new wheels stay true after the first few hard rides.
